Johnnyswim comes to Charlottesville every year and this time they sold out The Jefferson Theater! The first time I heard of them was when they made their Charlottesville debut at The Southern Cafe & Music hall. Michael Coleman was the opener and invited me to come cover the show. I caught his set, said “hi” in the dressing room, and let him know I’d be staying for a song or two of Johnnyswim and then heading out. After seeing their first few tunes, there was absolutely no way I was going to leave early. Abner and Amanda have some of the most amazing stage chemistry I have ever seen and that hasn’t changed over the years. The Jefferson Theater’s stop of the Let it Matter tour was a full family affair. The tour was opened by Amanda’s father and incredibly talented singer/songwriter, Bruce Sudano.
